Gun Control And Campus Violence

ABSTRACT:
3 pages in length. The debate over gun control, an ongoing thorn in effecting social policy upon which both sides can agree, has taken an unprecedented turn toward implementing stronger safety measures in light of violent incidents that have occurred on a number of college campuses. Critics have long argued how those who are responsible gun owners are not the problem but rather the smaller, more detrimental percentage of people who are mentally unstable and/or criminally minded. The number and severity of recent university killings have created a backlash of criticism of state policies whereby people are able to obtain firearms with very little effort, particularly the absence of any enforceable law that requires mental stability checks and reasonable wait periods despite past purchase history.
